Golf - the man in charge
One of the great experiences you will have in joining Lochmoor Club is meeting and getting to know our Head Golf Professional. His name is Jim Wilson and his life is all about golf at Lochmoor. He is, first of all, a great teacher of the skills and physical expertise of the sport itself. Today, of course, he is also a spokesman for the game at Lochmoor and a golf pro shop operations manager who excels in member relations and in encouraging younger golfers by example and hard work.
Jim came to us from the century-old Washtenaw Country Club near Ann Arbor where he was also Head Pro. For the past 25 years Jim has been a golfing professional at clubs in Michigan and various parts of Florida. As one of the new breed of professionals, he has added physical and marketing skills to his training background by attending seminars given by Taylor Made, Adidas, Foot Joy and Ping among others. Jim is a certified fitter for all modern golf clubs. His title of "Model Golf Instructor" comes from his ability to use digital imaging and the internet to further compare and interact with each student while showing them how to advance their own skills by sensible use of advanced computer programs.
After finishing college, Jim's advanced golfing instructors have included Dr. Jim Suttie, Rick Smith, Jim Flick, Ken Venturi, David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney and Jim McLain.
